Give Thanks:

  • Although we are small, I appreciate our core group very much. We are starting to get to know each other better. We meet twice a week, and folks are reaching out to each other without me facilitating it. The group is a different demographic than my “target group”, however I find strength from them.
  • Home services are a lot of work but I enjoy working with my wife on liturgy.
  • I am also encouraged that I continue to minister to and amongst my parish/target group where I speak as a minister of the Gospel in non-Christian contexts.
  • Finally, the café continues to be a place where I connect with folks from every strata of the neighborhood and spread the word about the church plant.

Trust God:

  • My time with non-Christians, especially my target group of the marginalized, people of color, has gone down since we have finished our 10 weeks session of community discussions. I want to still create space in my schedule for people who trust me as a friend and a minister, but aren’t ready or church. I now see that my time for them is limited. I hoping to bring on an assistant to help me at Cortona with mentoring so I am freed up to seek out these folks, fundraise, and enhance my time in sermon prep.

Prayer Requests:

  • Lord, we thank you for the work you are doing in the Central District. Lord, help us not to lose confidence in you and help me to be bold in being a witness amongst a people in desperate need for you. Establish your church. Maintain and amplify my ability to lead, to care for my family, and spend more time on my knees before you. Amen.
